Hens and eggs

We have enough eggs for our own use but I like to have extra to share. The fox took 2 of our young White Sussex hens this spring and the magpie took most of the eggs that the broody hen was sitting on. So I bought 4 Rhode Island reds from a lovely family a few days ago and we have our first egg from one of the hens. I am very thankful for the opportunity to be able to buy laying hens but couldn't help but get the camera when I cracked open one of their eggs!  It will take a few weeks for their free range diet to improve their color.
